More from Motoring

One solitary trip across town for a book sale. And perhaps a handful of drives to keep it running. That’s all the action the i20’s seen in the past few weeks. Actually there was another time when I went to pick up some more books from Ex-Man Shreenand Sadhale, but that wasn’t much of a drive, either, only a couple of kilometres. This lack of running time is probably why I already feel the itch to pack my bags and go for a long drive, perhaps to Bangalore or some such. Maybe I just might, too, if all goes to plan.

The i20’s just begging to cruise on the highway, you see. On every curtailed occasion that I’ve taken it out, it’s barely broken a sweat, grunting around town saying, ‘Come on, is this all you’ve got? Show me a proper long haul, for crying out loud.’ And I’m interested in checking how it handles one, too. I’ve made a couple of secret bets with myself; I’ll tell you all about them if I win. Okay fine, one of them is that it’ll reach Bangalore on a single tank of fuel like its elder brother, the Creta diesel, did on a trip a few months ago. Maybe it’s a bit of a stretch for the i20’s 37-litre tank, but whatever. Also, I just remembered, I should probably get those books out of the i20 at some point.
