The BMW G 310 R and GS are finally here in their BS6 avatar. Both the BMW G 310s are powered by a 313cc single now making 34 bhp@9500 rpm and 2.85 kgm of torque@7500 rpm, paired to a 6-speed gearbox along with a slipper clutch. Top speed is limited to 143 kph. The bikes now have improved throttle response thanks to the addition of the ride by wire system. Thanks to auto idle throttle, any stalling issues you might have experienced earlier have been ironed out, too.
At the front they feature an upside-down fork while at the rear there is an aluminium swingarm in conjunction with a directly mounted spring. In terms of features, there is no significant difference between these new models and the BS4 variants. What’s new, however, is the addition of LED lighting all around including headlights, DRLs, taillights and turn indicators.
Specific to the G 310 R, it will be available in a new ‘Style Sport’ colour scheme, for which you’ll have to shell out Rs 10,000 more than its ex-showroom price. And for the G 310 GS, it can be had in two special edition colour schemes: ’40 Years GS’ and ‘Style Rallye’. Similarly, for these exclusive colour schemes, an additional Rs 6,000 will be charged over its ex-showroom price. The BMW G 310 R starts at Rs 2.45 lakh, ex-showroom, while the G 310 GS starts at Rs 2.85 lakh, ex-showroom, India. This is a significant price cut from the BS4 variant prices and with this, the BMW GS models also undercut their main competition, the KTM 390 Duke and 390 Adventure. Game on, indeed!
