The all-new, B9-generation Audi A4 has been launched in India. The car replaces the Audi A4 (B8) which was one of the company’s best selling models in the country. The new one is lighter, has new engine options (only one available at the moment, though), and distances itself from the CVT gearbox of the previous model. Phew!
For now, it’s just the petrol engined version that’s launched in country. It’s powered by a 1.4-litre TFSI engine (that makes 148hp and 250Nm), is still front-wheel drive like the outgoing car, but is roomier than before. Not only that it’s more efficient (claimed to return 17.85km/l), the well-specced interior — complete with the 12.3-inch Virtual Cockpit — makes it a great place to be.
Lighter by about 100kg in comparison to the outgoing model, the B9 Audi A4 will compete with the BMW 3-Series LCI, the Jaguar XE, the Mercedes Benz C-Class, and the Volvo S60. Unsurprisingly it’s the newest of the lot here.

The car will be available in two trims: Premium Plus and Technology. It’s priced at Rs 38.10 lakh for the former, while the Technology variant is available at Rs 41.20 lakh. Both prices are ex-showroom, Maharashtra.
